Weekly inspiration to live a more positively simple life

Hi Reader,

Hope you're enjoying the rest of your weekend and that you still get to enjoy some extra day(s) in case your country is enjoying a longer Easter holiday break!

Here’s a little situation I’ve found myself in this week: I’ve been writing lots of workshop write-ups and putting together a refreshed presentation about my business. And it got me thinking…what legacy am I trying to leave in this world?

Yes, I know. Big question. Who am I to leave a legacy anyway, right?!

We are each a chapter in someone else’s story.
– Unknown

A chapter.
A page.
Or sometimes just a sentence or two.
And they're all valid!

The thing is, we often hear about the big (and slightly stereotypical) legacies we’re meant to leave behind:
Have children.
Plant a tree.
Write a book.

But what if there’s so much more than that and for any reason you haven't done any of the above?!

What if we’re leaving tiny “micro-legacies” everywhere we go, like little breadcrumbs scattered along the path of our lives, a bit like Hansel and Gretel?

I hope you’re with me on this, so here are three memorable things people have taught me (without realising they were teaching me!):

  • How to eat an apple without wasting even the core (it works with most pears too!)
  • That I should reject cookies when opening a new webpage (I'm not techy enough to know why!)
  • How to arrange knives in the dishwasher (this one's pretty obvious!)

Here’s the truth: most of us won’t change the world in a way that earns us a statue or a plaque in the town centre. And that's okay.

But the way we live, those small, everyday moments, might inspire someone else's chapter in life…and we may never even know it!

Because it's easy to remember the big influences: the mentors, the book authors and the loved ones who helped shape who we are.

But please don’t put that kind of pressure on yourself – life is already complex enough.

Instead, focus on the small breadcrumbs you leave behind.
Someone, somewhere, might pick one up – and you may never know it was meant for them.

Live your life because it feels meaningful to you.
Because those small, everyday moments matter to you.
I have a feeling they’ll matter to others, too.

And perhaps the legacy I leave someone has very little to do with my work:
Maybe it’s something I said.
Maybe it’s something I stood for.
Or maybe it's the way I smiled at them.

The truth is, we never really know the impact we’re having on the world.

And honestly, I find that uncertainty pretty wonderful.
It reminds me to focus on the small, meaningful moments, the tiny breadcrumbs we leave behind without even realising.

With positivity (and two trees – or twigs! – I planted to honour two loved ones I lost along the way),
Lucy
