Hi Reader,
"Are you that lady who writes that Simple Sundays newsletter?!"
Haha Yes, that’s me! And for a split second at a networking event, I felt famous!
But the real highlight of this week was a little lightbulb moment: I didn’t know I knew something…until I was invited to talk about it in front of a room full of teens at a local careers fair.
And what a day that was!
The entire event had been organised by a small group of teenage girls who recognised they weren’t getting the support they needed at their school…so they created it themselves. (Sounds familiar?)
From seasoned professionals sharing their expertise, to universities, law firms, the police, and even a local MP, all under one roof! It was genuinely inspiring. I don’t know about you, but my teenage self would never have pulled something like that off!
Then they invited me to speak about entrepreneurship.
My immediate thought: WHAT?! Me?! What do I know about that?!
Well…it turns out I know a thing or two (not three!).
And one of the ideas I shared was this:
Let it first exist.
Do it better later.

The session became about building a business with purpose (I may have added that part). I walked them through the journey: from following that spark you feel when you do something you love, to navigating those inevitable moments when things don’t go to plan.
Now, I’m not a business coach – believe me, if I were, maybe I’d worry a bit less about my bills! But like all of us, I’ve lived through enough ups (and plenty of downs) to have something worth sharing.
And that was the real lesson.
Knowing a bit doesn’t mean being an expert. But it does mean you can contribute. And that’s more than enough.
So here’s my question for you:
- What is one thing you love sharing that can help others?
- Or something your life experience has taught you that could support someone else?
Either way, I just wanted to remind you that your experience matters. You don’t need a certificate to validate it. Your stories, your words, your perspective, they are more than enough.
With positivity (and a few new teen acquaintances!),
Lucy
ps: One of the event organisers joined me on my radio show last Thursday, April 16 2026, and we had a super inspiring conversation! To listen to it, just click on the banner below and select Radio Show - School Run With Lucy Gibson!*
And good news: they’ll be back again this week to share how the event went, so stay tuned! These girls have SO much to share with us!
*the live show is available on catch-up radio for 2 weeks on VoiceFM's website.
